The 14th and 26th Scouts and Explorers went to the magnificent island of the Isle of Wight for the first summer camp after lockdown! The Scouts spent 10 days at the Corf Scout Campsite, where there were a series of varied, unique and very enjoyable activities on offer. From water activities like kayaking and raft-building to knife and axe skills to archery, air-rifle shooting and tomahawk throwing, there were activities for everyone to enjoy and step out of their comfort zone.
Apart from the campsite, there were many opportunities to get to know the island and its beaches. There were frequent trips to the surrounding towns of Ryde and Yarmouth, where the Scouts enjoyed lots of time on the beach. There was a hike from the campsite to Compton Bay, and coasteering at Freshwater Bay. Other highlights were Robin Hill Theme Park, where there was a confusionist show, and the breathtaking sights of the Needles.
A huge thanks to all of the leaders, who put in hours of meticulous planning to make this camp a huge success! Everyone had a great time, friendships were developed, eternal memories were made, new activities were done and the Scouts developed and learnt skills and independence through teamwork. There will hopefully be another camp in the summer of 2023, so see you next year!
