K2 Explorers & Young Leaders
Explorers is the fourth Section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old.
We have recently re-opened our Explorer section, known as the K2 Explorers, and are using it to encourage the older people to lead themselves and design their own programme. This is a great way to teach them to take on responsibilities, and lets them do activities they will really enjoy. They can get involved with other troops if they want, and can take part in camps both home and abroad. There is also a possibility for them to become Young Leaders, helping run activities for the younger scouts to learn how leadership skills will work in a more formal context.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
We also offer our Explorers the option to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. This covers a range of skills including volunteering, physical activities, and expeditions. Once you have the award it can help a lot towards employment, university or apprenticeships. While we recommend it to every member, it is entirely optional and you can join in any and all of the activities without taking part in the scheme.
Our Explorers group meets from 7pm – 9pm every Thursday
